Choral Excellence Program
In 2018
Park Lake introduced the Choral Excellence program, open to selected students
from Year 5 to 6. Although the
school offers choir to all students, it is recognised that some students have a
deeper passion and aptitude for singing and are motivated to engage in more
detailed and focused study. The Choral
Excellence program was introduced as a response to meet the needs of these
particular students.
Japanese Excellence Program
In 2015 Park Lake State School introduced the Japanese Excellence Program with
the assistance of a Languages and Innovation Grant of $10,000. Year 5 and 6 students
displaying high-level progress in Japanese, Mathematics and English learning
areas were invited to join the Excellence Program, run as an additional class
once per week during class time.
While the
whole-school Japanese program caters for all students, and the teacher continues
to differentiate and personalise learning during regular class times, the
challenge remains to meet the diverse academic needs of higher achieving
students. Across the year levels there is a number of students who continually
demonstrate both high achievement and interest in Japanese language studies. The
Japanese Excellence Program was introduced as a response to meet the needs of
these particular students.
Sports Excellence
In 2019 Park Lake introduced the Sports Excellence program, open to students from Year 5 and 6. Although the school offers Physical Education lessons to all students, it is recognised that some students have a deeper passion and higher skill set for sport. The Sports Excellence program was introduced as a response to meet the needs of these particular students and hopefully give them a pathway to follow into Sports Excellence programs for high school.
