Student leaders are an integral part of Park Lake State School and varied opportunities exist within the school for our senior students to develop leadership skills and responsibilities.

School Captains:

Our School Captains take an active role in all aspects of the school community. They must be approachable, reliable, organised and have the confidence to communicate with staff and students and also speak at school events. The School Captains represent students at official functions, speak at school assemblies, help at special events and assist in the running of the Student Council. It is the responsibility of the School Captains to liaise between the Principal and the Student Council. At Park Lake State School, we have two school captains and two vice captains.

Sports Captains:

Sports Captains play a pivotal role at all sporting events to encourage all students to participate. They are responsible for keeping students enthusiastic during sporting events and lead their house war cries. These students also help out at a number of sporting events held across the school such as volunteering at junior events and coordinate some structured games during breaks. We have a captain and a vice captain per sporting house.

Music Captains:

Performing Arts Captains (Choir, Strings, Band) are selected to be the representative for our school during a variety of performing arts competitions.  These students assist our Performing Arts teachers in a variety of ways.

Languages Captains:

Our Languages captains (Japanese and First Nations) are selected to represent our school throughout special festivals and events.  These students help our Languages teachers in a variety of ways.

Student Council:

Our school has one Student Council representative from every class across year 3-6. This member is elected by the students in their class. Our School and Sports, Languages and Performing Arts Captains are also members of the Student Council. Student Council meetings are held monthly to discuss any issues or concerns within the school and also to organise fundraising events. Each term the members coordinate a fundraiser for either an external charity or to raise money for a school-based project.
