Camping program
At Park Lake State School we believe that our camping program is an
integral component in the development of all children in the areas of
self-discipline, self-motivation, organisational skills, independence, group
cooperation, social skills, personal hygiene, self-confidence and a range of
academic skills dependent upon the venue.
Year Four children are involved in a camp during term
two attend Mapleton Camp on the Sunshine Coast (2 nights, 3 days). This camp
assists children to be self-disciplined and organised.
Year Five and Year Six children have a camp each year. Year Five
attend Tyalgum Ridge Retreat (2 nights, 3 days) and Year Six attend Maranatha on Sunshine Coast (2 nights, 3 days).
We see this camp as an important unifier for the older grades and aim to
develop group cohesiveness and understanding of the individual needs of others.
